About Us! A Barter and Trade Exchange Company (ABTEC) although only formed in 1999, has a very long history! It founder, Roger A. Forsythe is a long time Bartering executive having started his formal Bartering Career in the late 1970’s with Exchange Enterprises, Inc. He is a Certified Trade Broker (CTB), by the International Reciprocal Trade Association! He is considered, by many, as one of the Pioneer’s in the Barter industry. Starting as a franchisee of Exchange Enterprises Inc. In 1983 he Purchased Barter Systems of Los Angeles (BSI) with members that included major U.S. corporations Continental Airlines, Amfac Hotels, Xerox Corporation, Federal Express and others and merged both companies into Itex Barter Systems in 1984. He formed National Trade Systems in 1984 and in 1985, merged it’s 1000 plus members into Business Exchange Inc. He formed Scrip Clearing House (SCH) and Scrip Management Systems Inc. (SMS) in 1986 and 1987. Scrip Clearing House was the first Barter Clearing house of Scrip certificates. Millions of Dollars of Scrip went to waste because Barter Companies, Media Brokers and Radio Stations didn’t have the ability to let others know that the Scrip was available. Companies like AT&T, Disneyland Hotel used scrip or gift certificates to purchase products and services. SMS was an International Corp. that taught companies how to purchase products and services using scrip certificates as a form of payment. Marvin Cohen - Real Estate! is an Award winning Real Estate Broker specializing in real estate exchanges! He is a long time Barter member and Broker specializing in Real Estate Trading. Mr. Cohen started in Barter at the very beginning of Organized Barter in the late 60’s through the first organized Barter clubs Hilton Exchange and MCB Systems of Los Angeles! Mr. Cohen is Past President of the National Association of Real Estate Exchange Brokers and still active in the organization! Alan Biddulph, - Broker Relations! started as a Barter Broker in 1983 for Exchange Enterprise Inc. and he has been a Senior Broker for ITEX of Los Angeles, BX Inc. and National Trade Systems. Mr. Biddulph has the distinction of having worked with the earliest versions of the Internet when he was with Exchange Enterprises which utilized a 24 x 7 computer hookup of most of EE’s 100 plus offices offering products and services throughout the U.S. He worked with the first Computerized Barter System that utilized a National Directory Listing (Internet) to Look up Databases of Products and Services and with a Matching Have-Want product listing Database!
